The Reality Of This Fallen World
With rising turmoil and tension in the world, it can be hard to surrender our worries and fears to the Most High God. Even as we seek to strengthen our faith and hope in Jesus Christ, it may feel like we will never be able to find a true sense of security and peace. The reality of humanity’s fallen nature portrayed through sin, tragedy, and death may seem like too much for us to fathom. After all, how can one keep their eyes on God while rumors of financial collapse, war, political ruin, and famine are circulating throughout the nations?
More often than not, it will be a challenge to overcome our anxious and fearful thoughts in a world growing more dim and faithless, but we have to keep in mind that fear is a tactic used by Satan to erode our faith in God’s goodness and power. Fear can be used as a distraction as well.
Satan’s Tactics And God’s Goodness
Satan, the enemy of our souls, knows that when we doubt God’s goodness and give into our fear, it impacts our ability to think clearly, trust in God, and walk in spiritual freedom. We need to believe God is good in order to stay in alignment with Him. We need His strength to continue to overcome temptation and remain a light to those in need. We have to believe God is powerful and loving in order to trust Him with our lives. Satan knows the things that deeply terrify us, and he will gladly use our fears against us to stop us from embodying our full potential. It’s not that Satan can read our thoughts, but he can observe what draws us away from God and our divine purpose.
However, Satan is also aware of how powerful we are when we choose to stay faithful to God and stand in our authority in Jesus Christ to defeat him. Satan wants us to run away from God and flee from our purpose, especially when we face the inevitable challenges of this world. But God wants us to be strong and courageous!
In fact, the God of this universe created us to be strong and courageous. He empowers us to overcome the darkness of this world. We, as believers in Christ, have access to God’s divine power through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Even when we don’t feel powerful or courageous, God reminds us through His Word that Jesus is more powerful than Satan and storms. Jesus Christ has already overcome this world, rescued us from Death, and determined His everlasting love for us, His people.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 (NASB1995)

Jesus Is More Powerful.
Here are some powerful reminders from the Bible on how Jesus Christ, King of kings, the Messiah of the world, is more powerful than Satan and his tactics.
Jesus is the One who defeated Satan in the desert. (Matthew 4:1-11)
Jesus has power in the middle of the storm. (Luke 8:22-25)
Jesus will heal you in ways you didn’t expect. (Mark 5:21-43)
Jesus always intercedes for us. (Hebrews 4:14-16)
Jesus has defeated the power of Death. (Revelation 1:14-18)
Don’t Let Fear Stop You.
While you may still feel uncertain from time to time, I hope you know Jesus Christ, the Son of God, understands what it’s like to be human. He, too, once walked the earth and experienced suffering and inner turmoil. He won’t shame or condemn you for having real emotion, and when you suffer, He understands the personal depth of that suffering.
Jesus will encourage you to face your fears with Him. He will give you the strength to carry on in a world that needs your light. He will give you the strategies to overcome stress and anxiety. And He will show up for you in the sweetest ways if you allow yourself to be open to His love.
You are here for a reason. Don’t let the world dictate how you move or respond to different, challenging circumstances. Be empowered by the Holy Spirit. God did not give you a spirit of fear, but of power (2 Timothy 1:7)! Take courage because this life isn’t the end. There’s more to discover about yourself, your purpose, and the Most High God Himself. Today can be your new beginning, and tomorrow will worry about itself.

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:34 (ESV)

- Where am I looking to the world for comfort and courage rather than in Jesus?
- Is there an area in my life that I need to hand over to Jesus for Him to bring life and healing to?
- Read and reflect on one or more of the Bible passages above. Jot down anything the Holy Spirit reveals to you about the power of Jesus Christ.
- Read 2 Timothy 1:7. Pray for the peace of God to come into your heart and mind.
Blessings! New things coming soon! 🙂
