2021: A Reflection of Self
Who have I become after all of my pain?
Has it shaped the way I put love on display?
Has it made me into a better friend?
It has showed me who will be there in the end.
I’ve uninstalled the old versions of myself,
The Matrix, The Church, The Rage, The Bell.
I’ve come so far and now look ahead,
At the cliffs I see The Promised Land.
I’m the Fool, the High Priestess as well,
I’m the magician and the moon does tell
Of things that will reveal my Destiny,
Yet who is willing to walk with me?
The person once trapped has been unbound,
Refuses to cower or take off her Crown,
Knows she’s anointed by the one Most High,
Works with Angels, and knows she’s a prize.
She swam through waters meant to drown,
Now she sings melodies in a distant town,
And children smile when they look at her,
A Warrior, A Star, An Earth Helper.
Of all the reflections I’ve gazed upon,
This is the most beautiful,
Like a rising dawn.
A phoenix birthed from the depths of Death,
A fire awaiting to ignite the chests,
The hearts of those who’ve had no rest
From betrayal, anger, and confusion as guests.
I carry on with a stronger hand,
A weaker appetite for a ruling stance,
My pain taught me to be humble, do what I can,
To avoid the hypocrisy of this land.
I end this year with another reflection,
With words, emotions, and slight interjections
From my Higher Self, given directions.
I leave ill willed intentions to those up above,
I’ll continue this life with gratitude, peace, and love.
